Our trip to Spain to El Camino de Santiago de Compostela took place between September 24 - October 10, 1999. Alice, Peter, May and I went there a week earlier than the rest of the group to catch La Vuelta a España '99

Me and Pedro with our spanish friends, at the finish line of Stage 19 in Avila. We had VIP passes from Juanma, to mingle with the riders and big Jefes.

-Stage 18, Guadalajara to Alto de Abantos.
The beginning of the last of 3 major climbs.

-Pedro at the top of the hill in Alto de Abantos. Waiting for the cyclist to arrive -big crowd.

The winner of the Vuelta '99 was Jan Ullrich from Germany riding for Team Deutsche Telekom with the time
of 89hrs,52 minutes and 3 seconds after 3,548 Kms at an average speed of 39.5 km/h

Our own Vuelta de España '99 started shortly after from the city of Leon to Santiago de Compostela.

On the way to Santiago de Compostela. Our friend Rick, the first guy in front of the line, made it all the way, on a recumbent bike that he built himself. Way to go!

Ironic sign -we were going to Santiago and someone did ended in the hospital. Our friend Nelson, crashed on a very steep downhill going into the town of Ponferrada. He survived!

Cecilia along the way to El Camino

In the town of Cacabelos, España.
