Greg Lemond

Greg LeMond -First american cyclist to win the Tour de France. He won it 3 times, first in '86, and then he came back to win it in '89, and '90, despite a bad hunting accident that almost killed him, in 1987
Talk about a comeback, and with over 30 pellets still imbedded in his body!

At the Tour in '89 Greg beat frenchman
Laurent Fignon by 8 seconds, making it the closest finish in the history of the Tour and
later winning the World Championships.

In Las Vegas in 2006. Greg was the first American winner of the Tour and a true pioner that open American fans to European race cycling. To me he is "The Champ". He retired after winning The Tour in 1990, he remains, as ever, friendly and accessible, charming and unpretentious; a true gentleman champion.
